So how do we exactly avoid acne/pimples?
What Causes acne/pimples?
If you already know this skip to Routine section.
Acne by definition is developed when hair follicles get trapped with sebum and dead skin cells. Sebum is basically the oily substance that we see in our skin produced by sebaceous glands. When our immune system senses the P. acnes bacteria, it reacts by accumulating red and white blood cells to prevent any infections which results to inflammation or redness.
Contributing factors to acne
Genes - some people are prone to acne and some are not. Genes may affect hormones and thus affect the production of sebum in our body. Acne patients are also known to have stronger inflammatory response to P. acnes bacteria.
Hormonal Imbalance - Excessive androgen (male hormones) causes imbalance that triggers production of sebum.
Self caused Infection - putting your unclean hand to your face.
Remember the key to this is consistency.
Wash face regularly three times a day
splash lukewarm water to open the pores of the face followed by cold water to close the pores.
Use facial wash products that prevents acne
Best Glycolic Acid Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin
Ponds Pimple Clear
Eskinol Pimple Fighting
Avoid putting your hands to your face
This sounds obvious but believe me it's not. Many fell prey for this.
There are many factors that plays to avoid this.
Observe your movements and include proper hygiene
Do you always put your hands to your face. For example when you are bored or you pinch your nose without any reason?
If you have mannerisms to put your hand on your face try to observe this or have a friend observe this for you. You will be surprised how you can avoid pimples with just observing how you move your hand towards your face.
There is a man who always put his hands on his cheek, scratching his cheek is his mannerism.
He noticed that when he is scratching his cheeks there are times when he develops pimples and there are also times when no pimple appears. Why is that?
It turns out when he cleans his nails he is not getting pimples and when he does, he observes that his nails are not properly groomed.
Clean your hands regularly
Washing hands or using a hand sanitizer can make a difference.
Most importantly make sure to clean your hands after you do the your daily activities when you pay for that grocery, ride an escalator/elevator, used the restroom, hold the door etc.
DIY Face Mask
Experiment on facemask using natural ingredients that you can find in your kitchen like cinnamon and honey, eggs etc.
We will not go over in details for this one as it was already posted here under Face Mask section.
